Vihang A. Naik

Review by: The Journal of Literature & Aesthetics

14 Oct 2011

The Journal of Literature & Aesthetics  : "City Times and Other Poems is a promising first book of verse by Vihang Naik -  The first section titled "Love Song of a Journey Man" is the best part of collection , the language delicate and images beautiful : "I'd then begun / to hear wings / in empty spaces", "a song / in the desert / of my heart," "You revealed the edge / of a dream" are memorable examples of Naik's felicitous turn of phrase . The very first poem "Upholding" is full of warmth, hope and cheer. The poet succeeds in capturing the graces of the women who brings harmony into his life. "Time" is also a memorable poem. The image of memory like a candle, lighting up a darkened room is truly exquisite and symbolic of vibrant hope.
